For Bainbridge Island’s Dr.Helena Soomer Lincoln, the dream of creating a gentle and minimally invasive method for smile restoration began early in her career. Witnessing the profound impact of tooth loss on patients due to accidents, cancer, neglect or fear of dentists, she envisioned an alternate direction to renewed smiles.
“I always believed there had to be a better way, a more compassionate approach to helping patients regain their confidence and oral health,” Dr. Lincoln says.
Her journey to transform dental treatment started during her residency at the Univeristy of Michigan Hospital Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry, where she dove into every aspect of advanced restorative techniques.
After gaining valuable experience working in corporate dentistry, Helena established Fairy Tale Dental, where she could bring her vision to life.
“Opening Fairy Tale Dental was about creating a place where dreams come true for our patients, a place where they could receive the gently, transformative care they deserved,” Dr. Lincoln says.
At the heart of her team’s innovative approach is the TruBridge tissue-preserving method. Developed by Dr. Lincoln, the technique offers a gentle, preservation-focused alternative to traditional full-arch restorations, which often require significant bone removal and the creation of a “hygiene gap” that can cause speech impediments and trap food.
“I figured out a way to replace all 14 teeth per dental arch so they emerge naturally from the original sockets, with no gap whatsoever, and we don’t cut any bone to achieve this,” Dr. Lincoln explains.
The results speak from themselves. Studies have shown that patients who receive the TruBridge restorations maintain their bone height and width and their new teeth function just like their own.
“I am incredibly happy with the results of this method,” she shares. “Seeing the positive impact on our patients’ lives is truly rewarding.”
Dr. Lincoln is now dedicated to sharing the TruBridge method with other general dentists and to bringing the innovative dental solution to others in the community.
To further her commitment to accessibility for her patients, she also established the Fairy Tale TruBridge Foundation, providing an opportunity to receive this life-changing treatment to those who cannot afford it.
