Enter Concorde Career College, whose San Bernardino school offered free dental work for about 10 Inland Empire children.
On Monday, Oct. 13, these youths between 4 and 17 got X-rays, teeth cleanings, fluoride applications and other essential care from dental hygiene students supervised by licensed professionals, a news release states.
Concorde, the healthcare division of Universal Technical Institute, Inc., joined with PDS Health for the event, dubbed Dental Hygiene Day.
Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease affecting children, the release states.
More than 50% of kindergartners and 70% of third graders have had tooth decay and more than 1 in 4 suffer from untreated decay, the release states.
