LAKELAND — The SGMC Health Foundation recently received a generous $31,000 contribution from Lakeland Family Dentistry through the Georgia HEART Hospital Program.
This vital funding will directly support SGMC Health Lanier, enabling continued improvements to facilities and the advancement of special projects, the foundation said in a press release.
The Georgia HEART Hospital Program is a state initiative that allows individuals and businesses to contribute directly to eligible rural hospitals and receive a 100% Georgia income tax credit in return. SGMC Health Lanier is one of 50 qualified rural hospital organizations participating in the program, which has become a cornerstone of community-supported healthcare in Georgia. These contributions help rural hospitals overcome financial challenges, improve infrastructure, and expand healthcare services in underserved areas.
This latest gift builds on Lakeland Family Dentistry’s history of support for SGMC Health Lanier through Georgia HEART. Past contributions have helped transform patient care environments, expand access to essential services, and foster deeper community engagement across Lanier County and surrounding rural areas, the SGMC Health Foundation said.
“This contribution from Lakeland Family Dentistry is a powerful example of how local partnerships can drive meaningful change in rural healthcare,” said Hilary Gibbs, vice president of support services and chief development officer at SGMC Health. “Through the Georgia HEART Program, we’re able to turn tax dollars into life-saving investments that strengthen our hospitals and uplift the communities we serve.”
