HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Located in Harrisonburg, Weiler Orthodontics and Invisalign has been serving patients within the Shenandoah Valley for over a decade. As part of the practice’s dedication to the community, staff began their “Braces for Laces” campaign.
As this initiative began, Dr. Michael Weiler said, the office hoped to bring fun into a new chapter of their patients’ lives. When patients start orthodontic treatment, they get to pick out a pair of Nike shoes, Weiler said.
“It’s about turning a big step, like getting braces or starting Invisalign, to something that is exciting and our patients can look forward to,” Weiler said.
As the office continues helping individuals with their smiles, they have committed to giving back to the community they serve.
“This is another layer in our commitment to giving back. So, we feel like orthodontics is about more than just straightening teeth — it’s about community, confidence and creating a fun experience,” Weiler said. “Your first visit to our office, we hope, is an experience in itself, where we give you a tour of our office and show you where everything is, where you feel really comfortable and at home from the start.”
With this initiative, the process of patients’ orthodontic treatment can begin on the first day, including picking out a new pair of shoes. Looking back on the memories of the campaign, Weiler said it was not only important to the practice but to him personally.
“The most memorable experience that I have had so far with this program was the first pair of shoes we gave away,” he said. “I was with the young man, and I was giving him these shoes, and it brought me back to my own childhood. When we were going up, we could not afford shoes like this. I always wanted a pair of Nikes, and being able to give that to him brought it full circle for me, and it was really special.”
Weiler said he hopes the campaign smile continues beyond the office.
